What happened?
OpenAI models are being added to Google Cloud’s Model Garden, with selected enterprise customers in private preview and Antigravity support planned.
Why does it matter?
Cloud customers may get model choice without a separate procurement path, but private preview and forthcoming integrations should not be mistaken for broad availability.
What happened?
OpenAI and Google announced a partnership to bring OpenAI models into Google Cloud’s model garden and, later, Google Antigravity. Google Cloud’s October 21 announcement says GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out in private preview to selected enterprise customers. It says customers can use the models through Google Cloud APIs, with usage transacted through the Google Cloud Marketplace and applied to existing cloud commitments.
Google Cloud also says customers can connect local Codex CLI and Desktop workflows to its platform now, while OpenAI models are coming to Gemini for business and Google Antigravity. The supplied 9to5Google report describes Cloud availability as coming in the following weeks and says the companies had not confirmed exactly which models would land in Antigravity. That last product surface should therefore be treated as announced but not generally available.

A marketplace deal, not a model merger
The primary Cloud announcement frames the change as model choice on one enterprise platform. It says OpenAI models remain among many first-party, third-party and open models in Model Garden, with a single Cloud invoice and existing governance controls. That describes a distribution and procurement arrangement; it does not say Google is training or owning OpenAI’s models.

Why does it matter?
Our analysis: the commercial significance is less about one more model endpoint than about reducing the friction of switching models inside a cloud estate. A team with Google commitments can test OpenAI models without creating a separate procurement path, while Google gains a broader answer to customers asking for model choice.
The caveat is timing and scope. Private preview is not general availability, and a coming Antigravity integration is not evidence that every GPT model will appear there. The useful follow-up is pricing, quotas, latency, data handling and the exact model list—not the partnership headline alone.
